The classroom is arranged in a developmentally appropriate manner. I did observe that there were several three years old that had recently transitioned into the classroom. As I was conducting my observation I also observed that when a conflict arose with C.P. most of the times it was not addressed by any of the staff members. Most of the time there busy trying to assist other children with challenging behaviors.
• What might you be able to infer about the child’s play from what you observed?
Based on the observations I have gathered C.P. seems to be the leader in several activities. C.P. had a difficult time resolving interpersonal conflicts. “Children need to learn how to resolve such disagreement in a positive manner; unfortunately many children have learned unacceptable ways to resolve conflicts (Beaty, 2014.p.121-122). As early childhood educators, we need to teach children to resolve play conflicts in a positive manner. This is a life skill that will assist her for the rest of her future.

cooperative played with only one particular child. So, for this assignment the question that asked, “What recommendations would you suggest to help this child move to the next level of play?” It was a little confusing for me because she is already cooperatively playing. The problem is that she refuses to play with anybody but A.M. Another thing that I found that challenging was making sure that I interpreted what I observed correctly and I was unbiased. I wanted to make sure that I told what happened in an objective manner with facial expression, tone of voice and gestures. What helped me to resolve some of the dilemmas I encountered were following the suggestion made by Beaty. For instance, a suggestion made was “Observers need to decide why they are observing and what they want to find out” (Beaty, 2014. p.28). For example, for this assignment I focused on observing C.P.’s social competence. I wanted to find out if the child played solitary, parallel, group, unoccupied, or onlooker. Also I wanted to find how she resolved any conflicts that
