Polytheism is the belief in multiple gods and/or goddesses. Egypt was one of the many civilizations that practiced polytheism. The Egyptian government was based upon theocracy which demanded polytheism to every Egyptian citizen. Their belief system played a vital role in their society, each god representing a different aspect of their daily life. Mummification is the process in which a dead body is preserved. This was a practice commonly used by the Egyptians in order to reunite with their bodies in the afterlife. It was done by separating the organs and containing it in different vases, and then coating the dead corpse with a substance to preserve it. And, finally wrapping it in white cloth and burying it in a tomb in a pyramid. This was believed to essential part of the Egyptian culture, for everyday citizens slaved in process of making an extravagant pyramid for the afterlife of the pharaoh.
