Political Correctness And The Black Lives Matter Movement

In today’s society, everything seems to have to be politically correct. This ranges anywhere from saying someone is black instead of African American to renaming Easter eggs to ‘spring spheres’. The definition of political correctness can be worded as “the avoidance of language and actions that could be construed as exclusive, oppressive, or marginalizing of minority groups”. All over people changing their ways to not offending a group of people in fear they may riot or start a new Black Lives Matter Movement. In turn people may becoming more racist due to the fact that everyone is becoming more aware of racism in the country and the world. One example takes place in Seattle Washington. In 2012, a Seattle elementary school was having an Easter egg hunt. A volunteer teenager was handing out plastic eggs when an official at the school told the young teenager to either stop handing them out or refer to the eggs as ‘spring spheres’. Not being “PC” and saying something against a race or a group of people can easily anger them and in return get kicked out of office, lose votes, or even worse, cost someone the election. One person who does not care about being PC is good ol’ Trump. Donald Trump seems to be doing surprisingly well despite being more racist than Paula Deen referring to black people as the N word. For example, Trump saying he wishes to build a wall to keep out the Mexicans, and have them pay for it. Or the time Trump said, “The only guys I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes all day.” While previously stating that he hates having black guys count his money.
