Before The Civil Rights Act of 1964, equality wasn’t really a priority. Although we did have some barriers broke like Jackie Robinson and Rosa Parks. With the passing of this this opened up equality for women, and minorities not just in general but also for workplaces giving them better opportunities for higher end jobs especially in the police force which had been a struggle for many women and minorities to join for a long time. I think the over consensus is that discrimination doesn’t exists still in today 's society. Today’s media portrays being a cop in this world something similar to Joker’s henchman and being colored of skin a target for these cops. How many times have we flipped on the Tv and have seen a cop killing an innocent black man but doesn’t make a huge deal when a white man is shot down. This can almost relates to the reverse discrimination and we should ask ourselves is Affirmative Action just reverse discrimination. Reverse Discrimination according to (Stewart 2016) A label who those who believe quotas give the minorities in policing a special treatment. (Cliff notes) states that is is just reverse discrimination. It is wrong for police departments to give this kind of special treatment to minority groups who are not victims of discrimination just to eliminate a past problem.
