Sadly, I do not see the main argument except for the simple facts here and there about the group, how it was formed, and the impact that it left to the African American community, as well as the entirety of America to this day. While it may not seem like the most helpful article on the list (trust me, I know), I feel as if it can also be seen as the one article that could explain everything to the audience despite being as short as it was. The main reason I say this is because it shows the audience the songs they’ve made. These songs, of course, have powerful meaning behind them from what I’ve heard. Another reason why I feel that this would work very well in my article and back up my thesis-in-process is due to another form of resistance: the organizations that they were in. These organizations include SNCC, SDS, and the Black Panther parties. In it, I believe that the argument that is being made is just how well they played at the Antioch. However, Alex Mette goes deeper into it by talking to the members of the group (the current members), as well as explain to the readers just how The Last Poets captured the feel of the Black Arts Movement. He even gets the response to The Last Poets’ opinion on rap, which is something that they dislike (ironically enough).
