Without you Mrs. Ferenchek, as my teacher, I would never have been able to express myself through art like I have. I have known you since I first entered high school when I was a freshman all the way to my graduation day. You have always made it a point to tell us that we should not worry about what other people think, and just be us when designing a project. In Photoshop and Illustrator, we had unlimited ways of expressing who we were. You showed us how to edit photos we already had or even combine multiple photos to make one big one. I remember the one attempt I tried to combine a bunch of photos I had taken of my front yard. It was so terrible because the pictures in no way matched up on the whole right side of the paper. Since a very young age, art has always been one of my major interests. I found joy in getting my hands messy with the paint and then transforming a white piece of paper into a something more than that with a rainbow of colors. In school, I always made sure to take all the possible art classes that were available and would fit my schedule. I also began to get more in involved in after school clubs such as the National Art Honor Society and the SmART Club where we did several art projects every week. On my last year of high school I decided to challenge myself and I took AP Studio Art: Drawing Portfolio.…

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

Ranging from the enthusiastic English teachers to the down-to-earth Chemistry teachers, this high school has a unique and eccentric staff. Yet out of all the teachers that fill the school grounds, only two teachers have earned the title of being my favorites. Those two teachers are my junior year Art History teacher Ms Darrow and my senior year European History teacher Ms Cluck. Both being history teachers, they shined a light on a school subject that many tend to dismiss the importance of.…

An abundance of people appreciate the arts, whether it be the performing, visual or theatrical areas, on the other hand, I love them. My passion being the visual arts. Instead of writing and spelling at five years old, I was drawing, painting mixing colors and forming shapes not realizing the capableness of my techniques for such a young aged child. Because drawing was the only thing I fancied, every one figured it was “a phase I was going through and would grow out of it”. It never happened.…

To this day, I remember my kindergarten teacher Ms.Karagarto. Even though I was obviously very young when she taught me, I still remember how great of both a teacher and person she was. When I left Kindergarten, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher because of her and to this day I haven’t changed my mind about it. Whenever I go home to Houston and am in the area, I always make it a priority to go by her classroom and visit her. Since I was young, I have spent both my school years and summers babysitting and nannying, and both of these things have shown me that I absolutely love spending my time with and interacting with children.…
