Photo Voice

This assignment was to go around UConn and take ten pictures of things that I either loved or hated about UConn. For this assignments, my classmates and I used photo voice as the research method. Overall, I enjoyed this method of research, though it did have its limitations. Some of the limitations of the method are that there are only so much one can capture with a picture. Motion was not easy to capture so that point could not always come across as strong as it could as with other methods. However, the method does give a different viewpoint than other research methods. Seeing something and reading about something are two completely different things, so they evoke different emotions when they are done. Photo voice allows to demonstrate someone’s life in a different way than writing about it does. I would use photo voice again, but it would have to depend on the research subject to see if photo voice would be the best way to conduct research.
Many of the points that came up during the presentations were the same across the board. The students at UConn seem to love and

Some of these topics were cost of education, cost of books, stress, and picking classes. I have a problem with all of these topics and how they are handled at UConn, so I wondered why I did not include any of these in my presentation. After reflecting I realized that what point in the semester the project is done would change what is in the presentations. If it was done in the beginning of the semester I think more people would have put the price of education and the cost of books because that was what was effecting them at that time. If it was done during finals week, there would have been a lot more talk about the stress of being in college. The presentation for each person would change depending on what point of the semester we are

This convocation was very inserting. The first time that I notice was when they ask people to stay for the national anthem a few people remain seat and several people did not salute. Some one behind me even made the comment that they only stood for the national anthem because the school was black. This made me think about how on social media a lot of people are refusing to stand for the national anthem. The speaker for the convocation was Andrell Harris.…

Through the progression of this course, various aspects of history were viewed, in addition to concepts that are still associated to the lives of Aboriginal peoples today. While carrying some previous, biased knowledge on the topics discussed, First Nations Studies allowed the development of many ideas as well as the differing perspectives on each. Via the use of assorted reading selections, tutorial discussions, guest speakers, lectures, and a variety of other forms, I was able to take away a unique understanding, different to the one I had prior, which in turn educated me on Indigenous communities. This course attempted to bypass the anger that has been accumulated over the years, and portray information in order to avoid further issues…

Robbie Aud LSEM 19 Longwood Seminar Paper The Longwood Seminar encourages self-sufficiency, personal responsibility and citizen leadership. I like that Longwood stresses and teaches these three concepts because it definitely betters the school in many ways. The transition from high school to this University is unreal. It is hard to explain but I can put it like this, Longwood is much more of a tight-knit community and I seriously believe that it because of the concepts that the seminar both encourages and teaches.…

The “American Voice” can be is usually thought of as opinions of Americans who live here, but why can’t it other things be considered ? Things like literature, movies, or even sports can represent American Voice and spirit. I’ve found many sources that speak on America such as poems and speeches. I’ve perceived their words as characterizing themes of Americans, making their words an example of “American Voice”. They have characterized America with themes of freedom, hard work, and diversity.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

The Power of Collaboration “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is process, but working together is success” (Henry Ford, Brainy Quotes). Throughout the first couple weeks of college, I expected to figure out everything out on my own without help from anyone else. However as it may be the case in some circumstances, I can surely tell you that classes like English 100Y definitely does not hinder the concept of teamwork or collaboration. Throughout the semester we have been exposed to a variety of group based activities and challenges. These collaborative assignments help benefit the students with the capability to attack challenges in the future whether it be in another class or life itself.…
