Phoenix Art Museum

I went to the Phoenix Art Museum on the day of March 16th, 2016. Thankfully the museum was located in one of the nicer areas of Phoenix so I didn’t have to worry about getting stabbed as I made my way inside the building. The exterior of the building mainly consisted of visually appealing cement and steel pillars with a modern design. While I wondered around searching for an entrance into the building, I joined a small party of people who were also lost. After wandering around aimlessly for a short while, we stumbled upon a worker at the museum who was nice enough to give us all directions. I branched off from the group and made my way through a courtyard which had a brick path and well-groomed trees sprinkled about. Large buildings …show more content…
At first, I attempted to quickly skim through all of the different areas that the museum had to offer. However, this proved to be more time consuming than I had previously expected. As I kept searching for the end, I continued to find more sections of art. There was a surprisingly diverse variety of art pieces. These ranged from iconic rare baseball cards to miniature life like replicas of various rooms in a …show more content…
Modern Art The next area I ventured off to was the portion of the museum dedicated to modern art. When I entered the area I was greeted by a tree flowing in the wind that was projected onto the wall. The simulated tree’s leaves changed colors over time and it would sway about due to the indication of wind. This helped bring the art piece to life. The title of the art piece was Mike Kelley 13 and was produced by Jennifer Steinkamp. The piece gets its unusual name because it “is named for Jennifer Steinkamp’s teacher and fellow contemporary artist Mikey Kelly….”2007-2008 The next art piece was unique yet enjoyable because it encouraged people to interact with it by taking and consuming actual pieces of the work. The art piece was named Untitled (Rossmore II), 1991 by Felix Gonzalez-Torres. The exhibit consisted of green candies artistically laid out on the floor next to a wall. It instructed the viewers to “take a piece of candy, or maybe two; as you eat it, consider how revolutionary this artistic approach is in the context of a museum exhibition, in which all other artworks are

Upon arriving at the art museum, a giant, electric blue rope greets me at the entrance. The artwork surprises me since I did not expect to see such thing in a small museum. The rope comes out of from between a woman’s tattooed that stick out from a hole in the wall. It continuously extends from there and intertwines through bright white pillars on the ground level. The almost mile-long rope snakes up the building through horizontal columns that separate each story.…

Every individual has different perspectives on any given object or concept. On Tuesday December 5, I attended the McNay Art Museum and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The first floor displayed Chuck Ramirez’s, a notable artist from San Antonio, well-known work and provided the descriptions for his artwork. I had walked through the museum and found three art works that resonated with me each telling a different story. Focusing on these three artworks I will identify, describe, analyze, and interpret my most favored Ramirez’s works.…

This installation provides a blank white wall. They ask the viewers go inside the exhibition room and the museum guards mark visitors' height along with their name and the current date. Now it is a collection in the Tate Modern Gallery in London. It is clear that the viewers are not only viewers anymore. They need to participate in the artwork, which artists provide and lead the participators to finish the artwork together and then artwork can be done.…

From the minute you walk in, you can see almost the entire span of the museum. The concierge desk is to my left, holding a man on the slightly older side and a woman who appears to be younger, sporting some fabulous purple lipstick, standing up next to him. My mom pays as I notice, first thing to my left, pictures, hundreds of pictures. Dated magazine articles from the time Harvey Milk ran in office, pictures of transgender women from the 60’s and 70’s, pictures of men smiling next to each other, bills that were passed, and many other miscellaneous items all contained within the tiny confines of the colorful…

For this part of the assignment I decided to visit the Philadelphia Art Museum. Being that this was my first time to ever visit the museum I had such an amazing time exploring the arts. The Philadelphia art museum main building consists of three main floors, the ground floor where we have the Prints, drawings and Photographs, Modern and Contemporary Art and South Asian Art and other services such as the dining hall area, the cafeteria, education classrooms, committee room, Auditorium, Main Museum store and many others. The museum’s main building offers a “walk through time” as I encounter over 2,000 years of exceptional art and creativity. As I walk through the varieties of displays and pieces of art I was taken away by each and every one…

Dallas Museum of Art In my opinion, the overall structure of the Dallas Museum of Art offers numerous places for guests to admire different forms of art within contiguous spaces. I find these vantage points to be the museum’s most unexpected properties and my recommended route passes three of them. I had the luxury of spending my afternoon at the Dallas Museum of Art over the weekend, and I spent quite a while moving slowly around the William Wetmore Story marble sculpture of Semiramis. She is a stunning work, engraved out of a single block of marble, and as I moved around her, I thought to myself, “Great art is a wonderful reason to believe in God.”…

On my visit to the Kimbell Art Museum there were two artifacts that I found interesting. The first one was “Urn in the Form of Cociyo, God of Lightning and Rain”. It is of Zapotec culture from the site Monte Albán Illa (in modern day Oaxaca, Mexico). This artifact stood out to me because of its weird and intriguing features. The eyes are shaped into two parts representing the clouds and the water needed to grow crops.…
