The Experiment was kind of successful except for an issue with one of the solutions. When we tried to figure out the pH by looking at the litmus paper; we were stuck between a pH of 6 and 7. The best choice was to choose a number in between 6 and 7. Based on the two methods used to find the pH the results were close to each other.
In this experiment we were given the choice to choose eight substances and figure out the pH of these substances. To figure out the pH of each substance we use pH paper and pH machine. Then we record the results of each substance. The reason that the results came out the way it did because procedures were follow right. When testing the substances the pH paper has indicators that help determine the color of the paper and in return the pH of the substance. The …show more content…
A perfect example would be that plants can grow well depending on the pH contain in the soil. So the person that is growing these plants need to measure the pH of the soil before he or she starts to plant. These results shows that any beverage that is consume could be acidic, basic, and neutral. The measurement of pH is important in my life because when I use soap it should be a specific pH so my skin won’t be affected by it. I never realize how measurement of pH is important in people daily life.
The learning objective of the experiment performed was to balance a dilute solution of HCL with a dilute solution of NaOH.
In this experiment the pH machine was not functioning right so it affected the outcome of the pH reading for the solutions. In the beginning the pH machine was working fine; every time we added the NaOH into the HCL. As you can tell by the data it was after when 12 ml of NaOH was added that the machine started acting
