Preparing Future Faculty Program Evaluation
Introduction
In 1993 Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program was initiated nationwide with the objective to transform the way aspiring faculty members are prepared for their careers. Not only the doctoral students but some master’s and postdoctoral students as well got the opportunity to observe and experience faculty responsibilities through this program. In accordance with the nationwide importance of PFF program, Auburn University also started PFF program to mark the significant change in doctoral education. The teaching and learning center of the university which organizes a number of programs for new faculties and GTAs for their professional development started this program in 2005.

The sponsor’s of this program graduate school, provost office of academic affairs wants to get a report of how the program has helped the graduate students in motivating, training, mentoring them to be future faculty. The Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program is offered by center which has to provide report to the provost’s office and graduate school about the program’s effectiveness, success, importance in terms of how the graduate students are getting benefited after they successfully participate in this year long program. It has to be evaluated how their participation in the program affected their understanding of faculty experiences, whether the program is helping them to develop the expertise that they need to be a …show more content…
Further, the program has other stakeholders like the students enrolled in the program and the prospective PFF students, so participant oriented approach will also be blended with the other two approaches. Depending on the need of the evaluation, the evaluation approaches should be decided. As here we know this evaluation has different types of stake holder so we cannot adhere to one particular model of evaluation, rather it will be better if we can ensure a better fit by snipping and sewing together bits and pieces of different approaches depending on the
