Did you consider the life-saving option of adopting, or were you sold on the tiny, cute puppies at the pet store? In this case, “adopting” refers to the purchase of an animal from a shelter. In America, there are currently six to eight million animals waiting to be adopted from shelters. Approximately thirty percent of those six to eight million are euthanized each year. On the other hand, approximately two million puppies are born from inhumane mills each year. After learning about these statistics, doesn’t adopting already seem like a better option? While the puppies sold in pet stores are tiny, cute, and generally pure-bred, they have a higher chance of having behavioral or medical problems because of the conditions in puppy mills. On the
