Many drivers find things to occupy the hand they don't have on the steering wheel, as you’ll often see as you roll up to a red light to see a driver in the other line having a conversation on their cell phone. This is more commonly observed in cars with automatic transmissions that lend to the driver having one hand off of the steering wheel.
The first step to solving the problem of the problem of unconscientious and distracted drivers, is looking at one’s own driving. Paying attention to how often you use your turn signals, or looking to ensure you're not holding up traffic in a passing lane is critical. It is very easy to only see the fault in others behaviors, but we often commit the same wrongs as the majority population. These positive habits to catch on easily. If someone sees that you have turned on your turn signal to enter a turn lane, and they have the same intent, they are more likely to remember to turn their turn signal on if they see your positive …show more content…
A simple thank you ranging from a peace sign, to a wave, can help someone see that their good driving habits don’t go unnoticed. We need to do a better job of letting people know that their good deeds are helping improve the safety and wellbeing of those around them.
Providing a positive environment, leads to safety on the roadway. Bad driving habits can lead to the drivers around you becoming angry, and anger can cloud a drivers judgement. Strong emotions can be just as distracting to a driver as a cell phone “How Emotions Affect Driving”.
Objectives
The primary objective of this presentation is to create a safer and less stressful driving environment for drivers. The current situation on the roads is unacceptable and needs changing. This presentation is aimed to show ways that allow for a driver to become more involved in their driving. When a driver become more involved in their driving, it becomes much more safe for them, and those in the cars around them.
