The field of dentistry is important to our society. We use it not only to make our bodies healthy, but also to make ourselves look it a little bit better. It certainly makes an individual a lot more comfortable with the way they look. But, there are sometimes where the tooth has been completely lost by means of injury or improper care. What does a dentist do in these cases? The answer to that is implants. Implants is a way of implanting a fake tooth in the place of the missing original tooth. The only thing is that implants would have been impossible if it wasn’t for one piece of very important technology and that is bone augmentation. You need to perform bone augmentation in order to perform an implant. The main reason why you need bone augmentation is that when you are missing a tooth for a very long time, the bone that happened to once connect that tooth slowly starts to disappear. This can make it impossible to insert an implant if you simply don’t have bone to insert it in. You will need bone augmentation in order to get those bones back in order to insert an implant.
