Imagine you are a dog. Every night, your owner leaves you outside in the middle of a bitterly cold winter. You have not eaten in 3 days. You could barely call the dead mouse, you ate food. While you were eating it you think you’re next. The only water you drink is that of melted snow and that is hard to come by when it snows every day. You are chained up. You tried to chew up the chain, you just ended up breaking a few teeth. You are laid in your own feces and urine. You whimper and look up at the house, hoping someone will come out. This may seem harsh, but this is the reality for over 6.5 million pets each year. Animal abuse is illegal, however we still see many of these poor pups (and cats) on the streets or locked up every day. Today, I will tell you about the awful circumstances that 6.5 million pets face each day(according to the Shelter Intake and Surrender), who is affected by this, and how to help if you see a pet being abused. …show more content…
Another way pets are being abused is because of hoarding. Animal hoarding is when a person possesses more than the maximum number (4 pets or 7 if you own a kennel) of companion animals and person is unable to provide even minimal standards of nutrition, sanitation, shelter, and veterinary care, with this neglect often resulting in starvation, illness and death. Another reason why pets are being abused is because Domestic Violence occurs in the home where the pets home. Over 1 million have been abused due to domestic violence occurring in their homes(according to Gaille). This extremely important issue because millions animals have died yet this is a preventable
