Dear Stone Ridge Upper School faculty and staff, do students really need final exams? Why should students be put through the agony of having to study hours on end? Students already have enough tests throughout the year that final exams are not really needed. Both students and teachers would benefit from not having finals. Teahcers would not have to grade any more tests, and students would not have to study for any more tests. It is a win-win situation. Any student would agree that teachers give enough tests and homework during the year to add up to multiple final exams. If this issue is not resolved soon there may be multiple consequences facing much of the Upper School community. Final exams are given to test students on the information that they have learned throughout the year. This is a way for teachers to test their students to see if they have retained everything they have learned over the school year. Students overall would prefer anything than to have to study for their final exams. This makes it especially challenging for those of us who are quite antsy and do not sit still when taking long tests like finals. Tests and quizzes are given perfussusely throughout the school year having no need to give finals in May. There is no honest answer except to test students, as …show more content…
For one, I defiantly do not think so. Teachers find no pleasure in grading papers, let alone giving exams that will take forever to grade! Teachers should understand exactly how a student feels when she has to sit at her dinning room table for hours on end studying the information she learned back in September and October. That is another point, students are not expected to be able to remember everything that they learn, so why put that lesson we learned back in October on an exam in late May? These are the types of questions that need to be taken into account when thinking about this

Dear David, Thank you for your question. Yes, you can stick Velcro straps to the surface of our fabric bulletin board (not the cork variation), but the adhesive force is not very strong. Our bulletin board is designed more as a pin board, that means you adhere pictures, papers, notes, etc by pins (there are 10 colorful pins included in the set). Kind regards Tomas M. - Team Navy Penguin…

Dear Mr. Burns and Mrs. Maro, Many students at Washington Middle School agree that the shorts rule shouldn't exist. For various reasons the shorts dress code is unfair and harmful to the students learning. The heat is unbearable let alone while wearing pants. Shorts that meet dress code requirements aren't easy to find for female students and Why does Washington have a shorts rule when other air conditioned schools in the DCSD don't have one? In this letter I hope you realize how unfair and harmful the shorts dress code really is.…

Students will certainly agree; they would no longer have to sit through dreadful hours of test taking. One study showed that the average eleventh grader spent 27 days of the year testing. By removing testing, the amount of stress and anxiety felt by students would significantly decrease. Due to testing, students may look at themselves as failures as early as kindergarten. Financially, this decision would appeal to both parents and taxpayers.…

Dear Mr. Hitt if our school was to receive a federal grant of 1 million dollars. I truly believe we should use that money to repair things that need to be repaired. Because, the classrooms carpet have been here a very long time and they are filthy and nasty. Also sometimes the floors in the room can start smelling!…

First, owing to the problems which the purpose of our nation’s education is skewed to economic readiness and competitiveness, some people think that the key to solving these issues is to stop the overwhelming standardardized testing in schools. For as long as I can remember, I have grown up in the company of one thing. Films. When I say films, I don’t mean your standard 21st century blockbuster. No, these are much too overdone for my liking. Superfluous special effects, unnecessarily complicated plots, and gratuitous violence have all become key ingredients in the recipe for your generic ‘Captain America’, or ‘Dracula Untold’.…

Although increasing efforts to lessen sleep deprivation for teenagers may lengthen the amount of sleep that students get, there will always be students who, despite later school start times and a lighter load of homework, still fail to get enough sleep. This may be due to their own procrastination or simply the speed at which they need to work to grasp the content presented to them. In order to help these students, households and schools can easily implement inexpensive, additional policies to increase alertness during school hours. One of major ways to improve alertness and mental cognition is proper nutrition. Foods rich in flavonoids, B vitamins, vitamins C and E, and iron are known for improving cognitive function, delaying cognitive decline…
