In August of 1992, just four months after Chris walked alone into the wild, his perishing body was found by a party of moose hunters. Chris went into the wild hoping to get away from corrupt society and to live a transcendentalist lifestyle. His bold journey was going well until he made a silly mistake when he came across seeds from the wild potato. The seeds themselves are not what killed Chris, it was the amino acids in the seeds that caused him to slowly become paralyzed due to his malnutrition and physical state.…

I remember when Donald Trump first announced his political run for office. He built his campaign on the slogan: We’re going to Make America Great Again, “reinforced” by his bold claim of “building a wall”. When Trump got down into the weeds with Megyn Kelly during the first Fox News Republican debate, I sensed Donald Trump was a proud and arrogant man. NeverTrump was my obsession, but it was, at that time, merely political for me.…

Bias reporting in the main stream media has grown into a National phenomenon, especially after the most recent election cycle. There is no middle ground and there are never two sides to any story. The term “fake news” is voiced over and over again by politicians and I can’t help but to agree. Before you dismiss my essay in the assumptions that I am out on a mission to “Make America Great Again”, I believe all parties are equally guilty. Reporting now will have you believe you are either left or right, liberal or conservative.…

The issue of declawing is being made more obvious to the horrors it can cause to your beloved feline friend. When an onychectomy, otherwise known as a declaw, is performed it is equal to cutting off your finger at the first knuckle. The bone of the third phalanx is removed, it is not just cutting the nail off. Cat's nails retract, by cutting into these muscles and tendons you risk serious long-term physical and emotional impacts. 61 of 163 cats experienced chronic pain for 1-42 days after the surgery ("American Veterinary Medical Association", 2016).…

A campaign for the 2016 American presidency utilizes the slogan “Make America Great Again,” this time of apparent greatness the candidate wants to return to is defined as the years after World War II.…

America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but we would not have had the chance to be free unless someone believed it was possible. If no one had put faith in our country, we might not have the opportunities we have been given today. When they wake up in the morning, few people in America would say that they feel afraid. I believe in our government because they keep us safe, and they try to make decisions for the benefit of our country.…

Of course I didn’t think much of it, it’s all I’ve ever known. It wasn’t until I was older that I started to hear the discrimination to the gay community. First was the little comments, then the debates on TV, then was the back and forth opinions from my family.…
