One friend has taken the ACT three times. Every test she scored a twenty one. A twenty one isn’t necessarily bad, but she was shooting for much higher. She spent lots of time preparing and studying for the test, and that time never paid off. She made little mistakes that costed her the score she wanted. She wasn’t disappointed with the first score, but after receiving the same one the third time she had lost all hope. She was then forced to narrow down her college search by a huge margin, because her major required a higher score. Another one of my friends really needed a high score because he was trying to get into a competitive school. His parents sent him to a class specifically focused on the ACT and paid a lot of money for it. He went to the class twice a week. When the time came for the test, he went into it super confident. A couple weeks later, he received his score and was really upset about it. It was definitely not what he wanted to receive. Not only did he not get the score he wanted, his parents spent a lot of money that was basically wasted. No matter the amount of effort taken to get a good score, some people are not good test takers and won’t receive the score they
