When Rob was caught videotaping them, they tried to hide all evidence of the fining. They had so many shark fins that it completely covered the roof tops. This practice is obviously backed and supported by the Malaysian government, as our film makers were threatened by the police, put under house arrest, and later chased out of the country by the Coast Guard. They don’t seem to care about the consequences that may come from desolating the shark population. They have very little money compared to some counties. They don’t care about the shark population. They only care about the money coming from the trade. They also do this because people think sharks are vicious man eating beasts. They don’t realize the damage that is occurring from practices like finning and long line fishing. The people do not care to realize how much these sharks help us.
