Parents always tell their children that staring at a computer screen was bad for them, but they were wrong. Many people always talk about how they or their kids are always in front of a screen. As more and more people talk about it, they are getting concerned that it is going to be a serious problem. Screens provide many benefits and limiting them will only prevent teens from obtaining them. Screen time can be used for communication with friends or families, a way of finding relief, and as a tool for educational purposes. Limiting a teens screen time could be limiting their ways of communication. Teens are usually in their rooms doing work when they rather be outside hanging out with friends (Boyd). The only way that they can talk to their friends is through a phone or over a social network page. Like adults, not only do they talk to their friends, but like they also email their teachers or coworkers. Without their screens, they will not be able to contact people if they have a question or a situation where they need to tell them …show more content…
A lot of kids are stressed out by tests and projects and they need something to get their minds off of it. Having something that is addicting will keep them occupied while they are slowly settling down from whatever they are stressed out about (Boyd). It is also a really convenient way of getting rid of stress, as a person can just pull out their phone, open an app, and just start playing. When I do homework, I find it very boring and unappealing, but when I play a video in the background it makes it slightly more enjoyable and I can manage through it. Lastly, people also put their problems on social media and online forums. They then can listen to people supporting them. Though sometimes this could lead to cyberbullying, there are easy ways to avoid it such as flagging the comments or talking personally to just their friends.
