When the topic of the Pit Bull breed comes up there are two very common opinions made. It might be said that the breed is vicious and dangerous or loving and kind. People have minds of their own, own opinions, especially when it come to this particular topic. Pit Bulls, just like humans, react to whatever kind of environment they are in. “Pit Bulls have great physical and mental characteristics that make them excellent partners for responsible, active, and caring owners (Villaobos)” . If a dog is trained to be violent, the dog will be violent. The environment the animal is brought up in, will determine the behavior of the animal.it is likely for the animal to be violent if brought up in a hostile environment. A chihuahua will be violent if taught to be. Society just wants someone to blame and blaming the animal is better than blaming themselves. There’s no hard evidence to support the idea that Pit Bulls are naturally more aggressive or dangerous than other breeds (Paul Ciampanelli). Evidence shows that aggressive Pit Bulls are almost always the products abuse, neglect, or both (Paul Ciampanelli.) Pit Bulls’ bad reputation has been so deeply ingrained in our culture that a kind of racism has been developed against the entire breed. People of society are so quick to judge that they agree with what they believe to be true without looking deeper into the situation. It is true that Pit Bulls, at a point in time, were bred to be used in dog fights. Look at that sentence again if you overlooked the point. The animal was taught from birth to be vicious, to tear apart whatever they are told to attack. Growing up only know one way to live, to be vicious, will forever make the animal vicious.
