In today’s world Oral health tends to be a very touchy subject. I say this because just think about the multitude of ads that come on TV every day pushing you to buy a new tooth whitening solution, a new toothpaste or maybe a new mouth wash for children. Also think about how many bottles of tooth paste you’ve bought over the years? If you really sit and think about it you would be amazed . When one thinks about oral health the first thing that tends to come to mind usually is tooth paste and month washes for these are the things that we’ve continually been told can and will make our teeth healthy. The American Dental Association describes it by saying fluoride can occur in drinking water as a result of geological compositions of soil. Also The American Dental Association, describes it by saying that some areas of the country have higher levels than others so in those areas the levels of fluoride will be higher. Finally fluoride was added to the water by the government in order to make sure that everyone’s teeth can fight against decay. Some think that fluoride may only be in the water, but, to the amazement of many fluoride is in tooth paste, mouthwash, wines, and certain juices. It is in these products because it is a chemical compound that is needed in order for it to be what it is. As it relates to it being in your toothpaste, Fluoride is in it is because the producer of this product deemed it necessary for it to be in the toothpaste because without it , it may not have the same effect or produce the same result. Also some dentist advised their patients to buy toothpastes that have fluoride in to in hopes to build their tooth enamel up so that it can fight against the acids in the said person's diet. Furthermore, humans have been consuming fluoride for at least the last 10 years plus and it is said that during that time the level of tooth decay as sustainably reduced. It baffles me how people can really believe that fluoride is bad when all is does it better people’s teeth and promotes better overall oral health. Now in my opinion why would the government approve fluoride and or why would they put it into the water stream if wasn’t beneficial or could harm us? They did this because they stand behind the benefits of fluoride and the potential that it has to do great things.
