Schools do not prepare children to face the obligations of our society and democracy. When they enter the world they are clueless. There are many contributing factors to this problem. For one we limit the growth of students as individuals, by reducing the diversity in courses offered. Schools also force rigorous, meaningless courses onto students. There are many ways to fix this problem. Schools should fire teachers who have a history of being lazy, and abusive. Courses should not be restricted and forced onto every single student. Instead they should be given the opportunity to take courses on subjects that they can use later on in life. Offering enrichment courses like the arts and athletics would not only make education interesting but profit a student 's individuality. If students are all given an equal chance to succeed they will rise to the expectations given. The only way to create an educated and active community is by ensuring they receive the best education
