Some people believe that especially in the NFL, more extreme measures need to be taken to prevent head injuries. Some believe that the players should have to sign wavers saying that the NFL will not be responsible for any injury that may happen to them during the course of the game. The NFL is now trying to reduce the number of concussions by calling penalties in the case of helmet-to-helmet hits, resulting in a fifteen-yard penalty. This still isn’t enough. Defensive players, especially safeties and linebackers, are running head first into whoever they are trying to tackle, using the top of their helmet as a “weapon”. They are still not doing enough for the safety of the players and the safety of the game because there are still vast amounts of players that still try their best to get away with these “dirty” hits.
