Humans have not had a very pleasant ride when it comes to climate change and its effects. It generally isn’t in our favor and even when it is, it still often leads to catastrophes all around the globe. One of these current trends that has caused massive amounts of damage in our constantly changing climate is rising sea temperatures. Massive amounts of resources have been sucked up in order to combat and investigate this rising sea temperature trend. This rising sea level trend poses a massive threat to sea life. For instance, around the Galápagos Islands in 2002 the “Sea-surface temperatures rose above 81.5⁰ F (27.5⁰ C) several times, causing repeated coral bleaching events” (Kayden Wolf). Currently, the earth is clearly experiencing a rise in temperature. I am not exactly sure why the earth is getting warmer because I’ve seen too much conflicting data on both sides, whether it be mostly natural or mostly man-made to make a clear decision. However, I do know that it is getting warmer. This increase in temperature is going to cause many issues in the future if we do not either prepare for it or stop it. Many of the issues and/or negative effects were written about by my fellow classmates within the Wiki. In fact, I would say most of the posts within the wiki almost directly relate to this increase in temperature. These issues and/or negative effects include coral reef bleaching, ice-melting, animal behavior changes, heavy rainfall, droughts, flooding, and animal population decline. It is scary to think that a few degrees in temperature could do so much harm to the planet. I think the best thing to do in order to minimize the damage of this continual increase in temperature is to fix what we can and then prepare for what we can’t fix. For example, there are many methods being used right now that could possibly restore the world’s coral reefs. That could be something that we could maybe fix. However, I don’t think there is any solution to the rising sea level. I think it is something we are just going to have to prepare
