Putting The Terror To A Stop As soon as the second tower was hit the American people knew they were under attack. This meant war; but not just any war, a war on terrorism. In President George W. Bush’s address to the people after the attacks he stated, “The search is underway for those who were behind these evil acts. I have directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.” (George W. Bush, 2001) Later the President stated that Osama Bin Laden, the man behind the al Qaeda terrorist attacks, would be captured dead or alive. On May 2, 2011, 23 U.S. Navy Seals -Seal Team 6- raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where Bin Laden was believed to be. On this day the man who brought so much grief to the American people and to those around the world, was killed. The president the United States, now President Barack Obama, who had been watching the raid live on a drone announced just after 11:30 that Bin Laden had been killed. “Justice has been done.” the president stated. The images, sights, smells, and sounds will forever be engraved in their memories. Even the generation that was too young to remember this event knows of what happened because the American people don’t want to forget it. They want the heroism and bravery of that day to be remembered. So, every September 11th schools around the country show films about 9/11 to teach the kids about the events of that day. They have a moment of silence for all of those who lost theirs lives, as well. History classes also teach about this day. As the saying goes, “History repeats itself” but if future generation are taught well, tragic events like 9/11 may be
