Personality Test: Unreliable, Reliable, Culturally Fair

Introduction Have you ever wondered after taking a personality tests whether or not they were accurate, reliable, culturally fair, and whether or not there were other factors that accounted for your test performance? Well, in the past I had always believed that personality tests were neither of those things, nor had I thought about whether or not factors were used to determine me. But after taking psychology 101, looking through the book, and using the same website to take a required personality test on two separate occasions, I do believe in the following: The personality test was valid, reliable, was not culturally fair, and other factors did account for my test performance.

The traits listed under this personality type are the following: logistician, defender, executive, and consul. A logistician is a practical, and factual minded individual. An logisticians’ reliability can not ever be doubted. Defenders are dedicated, and warm protectors. Defenders are always ready to defend their loved ones. An executive is known as an excellent administrator. They are great at managing things, and people; in doing so, they can not be topped. But while using 16personalities.com, this was not an issue. After taking the personality tests, I had came to the following conclusion that the tests that I had taken, were valid and reliable. The tests was valid because of the following reason: the test was created to measure personality, and that was what was measured. The test was considered reliable, because of the following reason: “if a test is valid then the test must also be reliable”. But not vice versa. (as cited in King, 2013,
