I made the decision to become a teacher my junior year in high school. As a part of my high school’s service learning program, we were required to work at a community agency for eight weeks. I did my service work at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Louisville. I loved working with the students there, and because I loved it so much I decided to pursue a career in teaching because I wanted a job that I would love to go to every day. As an extension of the service- learning program, I also worked with Visually Impaired Preschool Services and Kentucky School for Blind. I am a member of the Honors Program at my university and I have completed several independent research projects and presented one at a conference. I had to set deadlines for myself in order to complete these projects. I am also a very active member of my campus community. I was an orientation leader for three years, my last year I was a head orientation leader. My responsibilities were to train new orientation leaders and work extensively with college students and their families. I have also had a leadership position in another organization I am a part of.

I am very organized person. I always turn in my assignments on time, if not ahead of time. I am always prepared for meetings and present myself in a professional manner. I am always early or on time to my appointments or meetings. I always try to anticipate questions that may come up for myself or the other party, and try to prepare to ask or answer those questions. It is a core value of mine to follow through on my responsibilities and keep the promises I
