Ever since I was a little girl, I found myself fascinated with the intricacies of the human body. I would spend hours playing doctor or nurse with my sister, and even when she did not want to play with me I would improvise with my dolls. I would watch medical TV shows such as “Greys Anatomy” and I would continue to fall in love with the thought of medicine and helping people with their treatment and potentially saving their lives. Working as a medical scribe in an OBGYN office this past summer has only furthered my interest into becoming a physician’s assistant.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

My entire family is made up of teachers, except for me. I always appreciated the invaluable work of teachers, but never wanted to become one. I thought that the true embodiment of an educator was just a teacher, someone who leads by example inside and outside the classroom. I have always been academically inspired to do well in school, however, it was not until being at Stonehill that I found my personal pathway. I strayed from the path of those in my family and chose to be an accounting major.…

When I was a child when someone asked me, "What are you going to be when you grow up?" My answer was always, "I am going to be a nurse. " When I attended college the first time, my answer became, "I 'm not sure what I want to be." Right out of high school making the decision of what you are going to do for the rest of your life is scary, so I juggled back and forth from teaching and nursing. I eventually decided to take a break for a while until I knew what I needed to do.…

Most people change their career decisions multiple times before they actually pick a final job, but I never had an interest in anything other than being a teacher. I have always connected with younger kids over high school or middle school children, which is why I chose to major in Early Childhood Education. I believe that teachers have the ability not only change the world, but improve it. I want to become a teacher because seeing that light bulb go off and seeing the looks on the student’s faces when they get a problem is a great feeling. Many kids are ignored at home or even bullied at home and I want to make all those children feel wanted and to know that someone is there for them and truly does care about them.…

It is my longing to believe in my students and encourage them to be the best they can be each day!…
