Personal Statement: A Career Analysis

As young children we have aspirations of what we want to be when we grow up. However, more often than not, these ambitions transform as we meander through life's events. People, places, and experiences are a few pieces of these events that assist in discovering what we are meant to be, Throughout my life, there were moments in which a career serving people as a medical professional did entice me, however I quickly put those ideas out of my mind. This was especially true in more recent years of my life. The matter of pursuing a career in a medical setting was automatically averted everytime I even considered the thought. Academics, finances, and opinions of others all contributed to the pessimistic outlook I had on my future. I allowed setbacks to restrict me and additionally, create limits on what I was actually capable of accomplishing. In spite of all that, my experiences over the last year …show more content…
Boredom has consumed my thoughts as I surrender my effort of reading the book I brought along. As I set the reading to my side I notice a doctor speaking with a patient in sign language. Fascinated, I gaze in amazement as even though neither of the two in conversation, are speaking, their emotion is evident through each gesture of their hands and the wrinkles on their faces. With a look of satisfaction, the conversation concludes as the physician embraces the young boy before attending to his next patient. In that instant, I pondered about the doctor and all that he had experienced to be in this moment. Through all the joys and trials he faced on his journey to becoming a physician, his mind was set on being the one who acquired the skills necessary to help this young boy. That was when I knew that the circumstances in my life weren’t the ones that were of importance, but the circumstances that mattered the most were the ones of those I could potentially
