As time moves forward, we grow in stature physically, and mentally. I noticed this once I entered high school and began to be assigned papers that were 4 pages based on House on Mango Street. Which was one of my first assignments for the first semester in high school that's where I understood that reading and writing will be needed to be at the highest level. Reading is a cross-road between the author and as the reader who needs to understand the concept before making a connection. …show more content…
I try to catch the main topic that the author is making and create a chart in my head where the author's examples and point of views start interacting with each other to create an idea that cannot only serve as a summary of what the authors' ideas a creative gateway to my personal life for I create my paper as personal as I can. Since giving personal examples not only show that you have an interest in the topic, it also shows you love learning about the subject and giving a point of view that nobody else can bring with them. When it comes to understanding yourself and your personality on a deeper level than normally, you must take personal stories into perspective that have shaped your life while growing up. According to McAdams, “defining oneself through a personal story is an act of psychological and social responsibility” (Engler 2009). Psychological and social responsibility relate to how you act onto actions around you and how you tie society into your viewpoint of the world. In other words, explaining yourself through a story can show several things such as how your emotions played an affect, the type of response you displayed to something that happened, and as well as the lessons you learned through a personal but also social aspect. In addition, McAdams…

Viewing the past four essays shows the progress and decline of my writing style, and structure. The four essays that were required by the class varied from the best to the worst, both having their similarities and differences. Choosing two out of the four essays, I came to a conclusion that the “process analysis” essay was the best, and the worst essay was the “descriptive” essay. Although it varied from their definitions and structure, the essay’s showed how much the writer, put their work into it. The certain characteristics that made it the worst to the best defined how well the essay would turn out to be.…

Writing has been my talent since grade school; I couldn’t sing, or dance but I could write, or so I thought. Then, I entered high school and realized that writing required a lot more than it did in middle school. The brisk pace and advanced comprehension skills required for my English three AP course caused my grades to suffer. I have struggled with college level essay writing tremendously, but through hard-work I have been able to write with more ease and finesse than ever before.…

Monday at nine a.m. sharp in the morning, I took one step into room A232 and had no clue what College 101 would accomplish. There was barely anything I knew related to what the class was about and the material it would involve. It was a required course every full-time student needed and was worth two credits. People said no stressful heavy, rigorous information was in there to memorize. As I grabbed a seat, my instructor gave me a better understanding on the purpose of the course.…

In my internship as a student accounting I developed stronger analytical, organizational, written communication, and planning skills as well as a better attention to detail. In creating reports and validating invoices I developed a better analytical skill. When I started I had to ask questions about numbers I was inputting into reports because I was unsure if they made sense in the context and I didn’t know how to determine if they were. Likewise, when I first began validating invoices, I was unsure how to decipher the different charges and ensure the invoices were correct for some of the longer invoices; the times and materials ones in particular.…

English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. My Work Paper SImply speaking, my work looks like a combination of material consideration, modern iterations of historical motifs, utility, and original inspiration. I have an idea in mind when I start, I look at images or have a moment of imagination that is the impetus, then I make sketches.…

It has been over a week that I have been in a pensive mood and have been contemplating about this essay. I recall how it all began. It was a tiresome evening of the last day of August and I have recently arrived home from camp. The first thing I was informed to do when I entered the house was that I had an essay that I needed to compose for a competition. My father notified me that the education director of the Toronto general consulate has challenged me to enroll into this three page essay competition.…
