Personal Reflective Essay: My First Goals

Decent Essays

This goal is to have at least a small following for my music. I made this a goal, because

When I was reading over the instructions for this simulation, I thought the plastic wrap over my eyes would be the most difficult part. It definitely was. After I covered my eyes, I sat in my chair which is approximately twenty feet away from the television. I then attempted to select what I wanted to watch, which was impossible from that far away. To be able to see the guide I had to be standing within two to three feet of the t.v.…

As a student for the past 13 years we have been taught three main subjects; Math, writing, and reading. We start to learn how to read once we started saying our first words and exploring the world with our small stature, but a tall imagination. School came along and made our lives more broad towards what is expected of us and the amount of the work that will come in the following years. As time moves forward, we grow in stature physically, and mentally. I noticed this once I entered high school and began to be assigned papers that were 4 pages based on House on Mango Street.…

From the list of skills and values desired by employers, there were a few that I have exercised over the years through my previous jobs. Being an assistant manager at a Foot Locker for two years really allowed me to become more flexible/adaptable to whatever setting I was being placed in. There were times I was needed at different stores in the city because a store was short on staff or the district manager was visiting a specific store and that stores manager had to be out for a while. So, I had to be able to adapt to the rules of the different stores I went to and how they did things. Another skill that I demonstrate very well is leadership/management skills.…

My provoking attentiveness for English language arose when I selected it to pursue further at A-level, in which I have indulged within matters such as gender, acquisition and language change. Throughout the entirety of my education I have always reverted back to English, due to my constant urge to read from being young and unable to shake off the ambition of becoming a writer. However, I would ultimately love to pursue a career in public relations or teaching after accomplishing this degree as I see it as a relishing opportunity to extend my understanding of English. In terms of my interest within the media I tend to regularly watch films, but do so in an analytical approach, as I have the tendency to comment on the actors and quality of language within films like Tarantino’s work.…

1.1 My family lived near Langley Park, so we went there often to shop. I consider my trips to Langley Park a big part of my childhood because the majority of my toys came from the now closed Toys-R-Us that was once there. I also remember shopping for traditional Indian clothes and food at the Indian stores in that area. In recent years, most of the information I have heard about Langley Park has been negative. For example, when I mentioned the trip to Langley Park, one of my coworkers said when she was applying for internships, she avoided any in that area.…

By the age of 11, I had been molested by my cousin numerous times, heard my father threaten to drink poison and watched this same “poison-drinking” father hold my mother hostage in a room. These experiences haunted me for years. Upon graduation from college, I spent two years going to a general practitioner, haematologist, gastroenterologist, and an obstetrician and gynecologist to find a prognosis for my persistent nausea, loss of appetite and severe back pain. I missed many celebrations with friends and countless days of work because I felt an overwhelming need to be secluded. My mistrust, fear and anxiety permeated every aspect of my life.…
