Everything is so much more laid back and go at your own pace outside of classes. While at the same time in almost all my classes I feel as if my time is never being wasted, and if it starts to be usually the professor will let the class leave if they’re done already. That is just fantastic, I always hated siting in a class doing nothing while waiting for a class to end, because there was nothing to do. The ability to leave a class early because I finished all the assigned work already, or the test, is my favorite thing. In high school that in between time was just used to twiddle my thumbs while I waited for the period to end. It was always awful. …show more content…
The biggest thing that would always annoy me in high school was how certain classes never seemed to have enough time in them, especially the ones that needed them. In my experience it always seemed to be math class that would always end before it should have. Some questions would come up from the night before, postponing the new lesson till all of it was sorted out if the majority of the class didn’t get the concept, leaving less time for the new stuff. About half or more of the class later, we finally moved onto the new lesson in either a slightly speedier version of what it should have been or cut off till the next day. This would sometimes make thing more confusing, especially if left off on a Friday, and it just seemed to add to a never ending

“I know applying to colleges is the last thing you want to do right now, but you might change your mind,” a trusted friend told me. It was December of my senior year of high school, and college application deadlines were approaching quickly. My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…

My decision to attend HACC was due to financial needs. Originally, my educational plan was to attend Penn State Harrisburg as a double major in Political Science and Psychology, to which I have already been accepted. However, the opportunity to attend a community college with a very strong relationship with my main institution was one I could not pass, especially given the lower cost of attendance and high transferability of credits. My goal is to transfer or graduate from HACC without having accumulated debt so that my time at Penn State Harrisburg will go smoothly and be most worthwhile. I feel fervent that I have made the best decision for my current life situation.…

All my life, I’ve been aware of the people around me and considered what I could do to make their lives more fortunate. With this interest in mind, I joined the Anti-Bulling Club (ABC) at my school in the 6th grade, eventually becoming ABC president in the 10th grade. As president, my biggest priority was to make my school a place where students were welcomed to engage in discussion unafraid of what might be said; I tried accomplishing this goal by getting volunteers to hold the doors and greet peers to school each morning. Through creating this inviting atmosphere, students participated in more constructive conversation, leading to provoking questions that even teachers could not answer. When I transitioned to community college life in the…

As a running start student I could talk about how my experience at community college helped prepare me to transfer to a four year university, but the lessons I learned there were primarily limited to academics. Sure, I learned how to be successful in a college class room, that online classes don’t fit my learning style, and going to Hong Kong for two weeks in the middle of the quarter will significantly lower a GPA. (I eventually retook the classes from that quarter.)…
