Bo Jackson said, “Set your goals high, and don’t stop until you get there.” (“Life hack Quotes”). My families always talk about my future and how it is essential to set your goals. For the majority of my life I’ve had an interest in childbirth and babies. I would always watch TV shows about childbirth, such as, A Baby Story and One Born Every Minute.…
Some challenges I’ve had to overcome start with me needing to get my life fixed. I used to be the student in high school that didn’t care about how they looked or what grades they got. I had no self-confidence in who I was and I had no aspirations on what I wanted to do with my life. Once high school was over life hit me and I needed to stop being the person I was because it was getting me nowhere in life. Now that I changed my attitude and my lifestyle I now get good grades and I finally feel that I have a clear future for…

Being a college student brings on a lot of expenses that I was not prepared for. Being one the first in my family to attend college, I did not have the guidance to help me transition into a college student. Primary, I will be using this scholarship for books and any outstanding tuition that needs to be paid. Also, I will be commuting to and from school.…
My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…

Esteban Osorio English 15A Zachary Clough February 18, 2016 A College Student’s Needs 18 million students are enrolled into college every year in the United States. Coincidentally, each student will be required to gain access to the internet as colleges become more technology dependent. With so many different kinds of computers out there, it can be a daunting choice to choose the correct one for their specific needs and that can readily meet their necessities for the years to come as a student. The MacBook Pro was the pc I went with, and it was an excellent choice although there are plenty of other options that are equally as worthy.…

When I never thought that I would spend my first two years of college at a community college. I applied to the universities I had in mind during my final year in high school and got accepted into all of them. Unfortunately, the cost was too much to go to any of the colleges, and the scholarship money was barely enough to pay for an entire year. The Honors College Fellows Scholarship was awarded to me, and the Honors College at Lone Star College-North Harris would cover the cost of my first two years of college. It was an Honors College at this community college, and a lot of what I have learned and gained is thanks to this program.…
The years I spent in high school leading up to college were challenging. Attending a low performing school with limited resources left me feeling unprepared and intimidated at the thought of enrolling at a university like Carolina. These feelings caused me to doubt my ability to even gain acceptance into the university, let alone succeed. Despite the uncertainty infecting my mind, I decided to give Carolina a try. Fortunately, through sheer determination and the resources offered here at Carolina I have overcome any doubts I have had about my ability to succeed in higher education.…

It was pretty difficult balancing three college courses and soccer. I worked hard everyday to keep my grades up, and it payed off. I’ve only had one B in my whole life, and it shouldn’t have been.…
“In order to understand rhetoric, its necessary to understand the motivations-the purposes, needs, values, and expectations-of the rectors-that is, the people who generate it. ”(347) A quote from _____ explaining that in order to understand rhetoric you must know the writer’s purpose. Many different aspects play into why someone writes what they write, and that’s what makes their essay memorable. Personally, the most memorable piece of writing that I’ve ever constructed was my college essay for the University of Central Florida, and those same aspects; exigence, context, constraints, and audience are what helped develop my essay.…
God is my Guide When first going through the processes of deciding where to attend college, packing up most of my belongings and moving to a new place with all new people that were so different from where I grew up, I felt exactly like the description in Learn for the Love of God when it says, “I only knew that something exciting and a little terrifying was beginning” (Opitz and Melba 2). My actual expectations for the University of Northwestern, St. Paul were few, but my worries, questions and concerns seemed to be countless. Would college classes be too difficult for me? Did I make the right choice on where to go to college? Will I be able to be so far away from my family?…
