Personal Narrative: The Test That Changed My Life

I was not surprised about what was on the test, it wasn't very hard in itself. The frrst couple were very easy, and then they started to get a little bit harder. The whole test itself was not hard at all. Calculators were not really permitted only on a couple. I thought that I was going to have to take a while on this test but it ended up being a lot easier than I thought. This test was taken in person and I had to do it on a separate piece of paper. I had to do a decent amount of multiplication and simplifying it but nothing I haven't learned yet.
It was all very basic and cut to the point. I didn't really have to think very hard on most of the problems I just had to solve them all out and show my work. I had to add, subtract, multiply, divide,

In knowing that I know this stuff hopefully when I take my sats next month It will not be hard for me and I believe that I am going to continue to get better at math. I think that I should have to study the other aspects of math. Ifi am able to strengthen the other aspects of math then I believe that I will be fine. I gained that I am a better math student than I thought that I was for some of them I didn't even have to show work and I could do them in my head. That shows that I am understanding the criteria that is being given to me. I will now be able to believe that I am able to do any of the math homework. I believe that this gives me a good idea and shows me that I am prepared.
I am also looking at montclair state as one of my options for college next year and
I actually wanted to see what the criteria is like in the school. I have gained more from taking this test than I thought that I would have. I did not really think too much about

What types of directions about the administration of the SII were you given prior to taking it? Students who were volunteering at the Career center provided me with brief verbal guidelines, on how to use the computer, such as to write my name and Student ID, and if I needed help to just ask. Were you given any background information (either verbally or in writing) about the SII prior to taking it? My background information prior taking the test was done in class. I remember that the Strong is an “inventory test,” therefore it doesn’t measure skills or abilities.…

There’s a Chinese Proverb that says, “Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get back up again.” I really wish I heard that quote when I thought I was a failure, but really was just being lazy. In Carol Dweck’s article “Brainology” a study is conducted on seventh grade students and their mindsets. Their mindsets were measured and studied for two years. Dweck studied the difference between the fixed mindset and the growth mindset students and how they did in school.…

During the Winter Quarter of 2018, I enrolled in CHEM1A at De Anza Community College to deepen my understanding of chemistry. Going into the class, I expected it to be similar to a high school class. However, I quickly discovered that it was quite different--it was literally and figuratively in a class of its own. There were a lot more advanced concepts taught in my CHEM1A course. At first, I was at a loss on how to study and adequately prepare for the class, given the volume of material and many details involved.…

Should I just quit and be placed back in standard math, or should I put in the extra effort to make it into accelerated math? I decided to try and see what I could get done, and it ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m at my desk in math class and suddenly I hear “Sam, would you come here for a second?” said Mrs. Kukovec.…

Having mandatory testing in high school can cause trouble, for students who are trying to get their high school diploma. However, I have never had any concerns about mandatory testing during my past high school years, in fact I feel like it pressured me to learn what I needed to learn. Necessary testing also helped me acknowledge my learning level, and it kept an organized agenda of what we should learn in class. The testing environment did not concern me either, to be honest it helped me concentrated and it kept me on task. The pressure of state testing benefited me because the thought of having a final test at the end of the year that made want to learn the material instead of just sitting in the classroom occupying a seat.…
