Personal Narrative: The School Of Music

The fall is doubtful and I can't guarantee you a spot. The department is fickle with your type of request and it would dependent on Part-Time Instructor funding. Furthermore, my studio is almost always full (I can have 8 total) and all the spots will most likely be filled by incoming students. This semester, I had two students leave school unexpectedly so I happen to have an opening. The School of Music also expected to pay me for those students, so there is money allocated for the spots in my studio.

I talk to Dr. Weast about you this morning and there is a good chance (not %100 but good) that they will let you take from me this term. He asked me to follow up with an email to him and Dr. Sumner Lott.

I would hesitate to say it is now

I was wondering if you could possibly sign as my academic advisor so that I can enroll for an overload and register in an upper-division Breech course? (I would have asked my regular advisor which is Dr. Vandenberg but I think he's unavailable for the rest of this week and next week)? Can you please sign them instead?…

Hi Ceal Schliepp, In my last email, I said that I was interested in returning as an aide this summer for the AASSC, but unfortunately I am no longer available as I have just accepted an internship for the summer. Luckily, you probably don’t have to worry about whether you snag a role or not; West Delaware rarely puts a cap on performer numbers. Most years, the directors will go out of their way to fit more students into specific roles, even if it means splitting roles or stuffing as many extras (background, non-speaking characters) in a scene as possible.…

This is Charlie Thierauf and I had the pleasure of talking to you at the UMSL career fair about my Study Abroad trip to China next semester. I had a meeting Friday regarding the program and I wanted to share what I know thus far. I am currently placed at Craig Elementary and have recently found out that I will be able to continue my student teaching experience at Craig through December and January. During this time I will be teaching and completing my MoPTA requirements for graduation.…

The first Broadway musical I enjoyed was Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I was about thirteen years old. It was more elaborate than the small performances at Disney World. There was more music, elaborate set designs, and more seats in theater. I was very impressed by the singing and actors ability to flow through the material.…

That is when I realized performing became second nature to me. No matter what route I took it always came back to acting. Even after gaining my Theatre associates degree I still have the urge to yearn more for the technique. However, your school offers me the tools to not only act but grants students other opportunities rather than a straight…

My hope is that I am able to continue dancing and acting for the rest of my life and because of this I am eager to take in as much as I can. Because of these particular goals I have set out to spend as much time as possible in rehearsal halls and dance studios. This year especially has been me balancing dance classes every night, performing in The WIZ at First Stage children’s theater, and take acting classes every weekend at First Stage all while keeping just over a 4.0 GPA. Summers are not typically a break for me either. If I’m not taking a company acting class you can probably find me interning at First stage trying to earn credits for future classes.…

Different moments of our lives change us and shape us into the man or woman whom one day we will become. One moment that changed me was when I got my first instrument. Getting my first instrument was exciting, yet challenging at the same time. When I told my mom that I wanted to start playing music, I didn’t realize how hard it can truly be. I didn’t think of how much patience and time I would need to put into my practicing.…

Hi Katherine, Sorry for the late response. I've been out of town most of this week. Thank you for working with me but I have decided to decline admission. When I originally applied to the program, I planned to attend full-time without working. Since I work fulI-time and can only receive funding if I attend classes full-time, I don't think this is the best time for me to start the program.…

I attended the MTSUU Jazz Artist Series at MTSU on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 7:30 pm. The instrument amount was varied, but the expected Jazz instruments were all there: stand-up bass, piano, horn section, drums, etc. All of the woodwind players played different instruments throughout each piece. It was held in the T. Earl Hinton Music Hall in the Wright Music Building. Around 130 people were there.…

What really caught my eye about this group in particular is the houses! It seems like such a good way to really bond with not only your Big, but with some of the other girls in the organization too. I was in band in high school, and I loved having a band little sister. I love how an organization like this takes that aspect of sororities but replaces the negative aspects of sororities with volunteering and academic standards. Additionally, while my high school was in Austin and many people from my school came to UT, I didn’t come with a solid friend group.…
