Now I was only in the first grade when the 2004 Power Slam Dunk Contest occurred, but I do indeed remember watching the contest. At this time in my life, I had already faced some obstacles. I was a shy and unsocial kid and I found out I was color blind. The farm was the only place I wanted to be because I loved the cows. The University of Minnesota- Twin Cities seemed like a front runner for awhile. But I started to think about Tennessee more and more every day, it was my dream school. I finally decided to apply just to be able to say I did it and hope that I would get accepted. When I applied I didn 't really have plans to attend, I honestly didn 't think I would get accepted. Once I learned I got accepted, my mind changed. Minnesota was still my number 1 option for college, but Tennessee closed the gap every day. It eventually became the only thing I wanted. I didn 't care about any other college, Tennessee was going to be where I spent the next four years of my life. Of course my parents were against, we had countless arguments about the distance, the cost, the risks. I started begging in October and finally got the ok May 1st at midnight, just 23 hours before I had to confirm my attendence. I will be double majoring in Kinesiology and Sports Management and will also have a Business minor. I ultimately didn 't get accepted into Minnesota and withdrew my application from SDSU. Tennessee means everything to me. I get to be on the campus where Candace Parker and Peyton Manning attended and go to basketball games at Thompson Boling Arena. I get to live my lifelong dream.
