Now I was only in the first grade when the 2004 Power Slam Dunk Contest occurred, but I do indeed remember watching the contest. At this time in my life, I had already faced some obstacles. I was a shy and unsocial kid and I found out I was color blind. The farm was the only place I wanted to be because I loved the cows. The University of Minnesota- Twin Cities seemed like a front runner for awhile. But I started to think about Tennessee more and more every day, it was my dream school. I finally decided to apply just to be able to say I did it and hope that I would get accepted. When I applied I didn 't really have plans to attend, I honestly didn 't think I would get accepted. Once I learned I got accepted, my mind changed. Minnesota was still my number 1 option for college, but Tennessee closed the gap every day. It eventually became the only thing I wanted. I didn 't care about any other college, Tennessee was going to be where I spent the next four years of my life. Of course my parents were against, we had countless arguments about the distance, the cost, the risks. I started begging in October and finally got the ok May 1st at midnight, just 23 hours before I had to confirm my attendence. I will be double majoring in Kinesiology and Sports Management and will also have a Business minor. I ultimately didn 't get accepted into Minnesota and withdrew my application from SDSU. Tennessee means everything to me. I get to be on the campus where Candace Parker and Peyton Manning attended and go to basketball games at Thompson Boling Arena. I get to live my lifelong dream. Even though my parents still aren 't 100% for Tennessee and my out of state tuition is a big

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

Since they knew we liked kick ball so much they built a kick ball diamond for us. There was just so much to do in the shortest amount of time. Everyday was a new day, I never did the same thing, whether it was playing on the upper part on the monkey bars seeing who could hang the longest or playing football with the guys. I can remember my first year at kickball I was taller than most of the guys because they haven’t hit their growth spurt yet, so everyone wanted me on their team because I was the only girl once again that was better than most of the guys.…

We brought the ball up the court passed it around and got a shot up.…

At the time it seemed like a good start, however I was more interested in attending a liberal arts college, which later offered spring admission. During February, I heard back from most of the school I applied to. Then the decision lied between three places: University of California Irvine, Franklin and Marshall College, and the University of Washington. I first ruled out Franklin and Marshall because I had to start a semester later during the spring. Next, between UC Irvine and UW, I chose UW.…
