Personal Narrative: The House Of Tricks

Improved Essays
On Friday, the 28th of February, one of my friends and I decided to have lunch at a little restaurant called House of Tricks. It is really close to ASU and we just got out of a class after a very long day, and we were starving. I have always wanted to try it because I have walked past it many times, and it always looked like a nice place to eat.
House of Tricks was named that, for two reasons. First, its owner's’ last name, a husband and wife, is Tricks. Second, the owner's favorite restaurant before opening their own was called The House of Joy, so they combined that with their last name, and you get House of Tricks. The restaurant opened back in 1987 after the owners quit their previous jobs as manager in chief of a restaurant, where they

The starter we ordered was really good, it was a creamy spinach dip served with crackers and a toasted baguette. The crackers were bland, nothing special about them. But the baguette was warm from the oven and perfectly toasted, and it tasted great with the dip. I really enjoyed the combination that it almost filled me up before the main course was even served. I definitely would recommend that dish to any one. My friend and I both like sharing food, so I technically tried two main courses. The first was a Sirloin Burger served with homemade chips. The chips were light and perfectly salted, and would have tasted great if they weren’t a little burnt. I enjoyed eating a bunch of them, but eventually I couldn’t eat any more because of the bitter taste. The burger had one of the best prepared beef I have ever tasted; the bun itself was really tasty too, but the problem was everything else was definitely lacking some seasoning. I could only taste the bun and the beef, which made the meal bland. The second dish was Chicken Chipotle Pasta; it was really delicious to the point where we both attacked the pasta and barely ate half the burger between the both of us. The pasta had spinach and scallions with a rich, creamy, spicy sauce, yet it wasn’t heavy. We basically cleaned the entire plate! I definitely will recommend this to anyone.
We enjoyed the restaurant and its atmosphere. We might have chosen a mediocre main course, but the other

After the quality of the food is considered, the next logical thing to look at is how it is being served. The service is another important factor when eating out because it sets the stage of how the meal will go. If the employees are rude or disrespectful it will ruin the rest of the night because even after the issue is solved the customer will still be fuming after the encounter. On the other hand if the service is wonderful the customer can then focus on the quality of the food. It is already clear that Chick-fil-A’s food is excellent, so it is important to analyze their service to see if it is up to par with similar restaurants and if it is unique.…
