Personal Narrative: The Baboon Carts

Improved Essays
This morning started like normal where I gathered the Monkey Village cart and then gathered the Baboon cart. I had asked Denise for her cart key so I could get the Baboon cart. I had placed all of the food in both carts while waiting for Denise and Amy. There was a relief keeper for Baboon/Mandrill, so I was told not to move the carts and that we would meet at the commissary today. I meet the relief keeper, Stephanie. In which I gathered she is a quite person as she did not introduce herself and did not even acknowledge me. I only know her name because she was the person who called out last time she was on the string with me. I gathered that she and Denise do not care for eachother very quickly as any conversation that they had was strictly …show more content…
It was simple stuff regarding what Denise needed to know about telling the MV guides what they need to do. Amy has been trying to get things changed so that the guides realize that they cannot be relaxed in that area. She wanted them to know that if someone gets bitten, they do not know who is was who bit the quest, and the quest complains about it enough that each of the monkeys will need to be exterminated to complete the rabies test. This, however, does not sit well with a volunteer coordinator and asked that we instead that it will negatively impact our collection and the exhibit will be closed because she is uncomfortable to mention rabies. Personally I think that this excuse is ridiculous and that the guides should know the true consequence from their lack of attention. Stephanie was given a quick rundown of what was up with the Baboons and Mandrills. Denise and Amy have decided to tag team the buffer and MV strings because of Alex going off grounds for an …show more content…
I gathered as much stuff as I possibly could so that I would have enough to work on in the 2 hours I would be there alone and sat outside. The first issue that I ran into was one of many. I did not have the right size screws to fit my hinges. I had remembered that Amy was going to be in the Cyber cafe so I wandered down there and asked her where I could go to get what I needed. She sent me to the operations guys who were kind enough to help me. I was able to get screws and hinges for the other crate I was working on. I ran into an issue with trying to core the plastic on the crates because I did not have a drill. So it took me a little longer then expected but I finally finished it. It just needs on final touch which is to shave off the pointed ends on the screws and it will be ready for either the Siamangs or the Gibbons. Denise thought that it was really cool. She also admired the little pyramids that I had been constructing for the Tamarin complex. The glue that I used was non toxic but was horrible to work with. The cardboard did not want to stay together, which was slightly annoying. I was able to make 5 of them so that each small monkey would have one. I get the impression that even though I made them for food enrichment I think that they will need to be used with something else because I don't think that they will be able to hold much. I left them to

I informed her that her CW case was closed on 09/19/16 and the safety plan was that her oldest child, Austin, will continue to stay with his father and that she will have the other two. The plan was changed after her CW case was closed by the family, which could be fine if the children are not at risk or neglected.…
