I knew when I would walk up to her, what I would say, and how she would react. It’s like Mr. Murphy said, “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” All of my friends knew what was about to transpire, so they eagerly awaited my eventual demise. My heart was pounding and my palms were sweating. Twenty feet felt like twenty miles and the entire time I rehearsed what I would say, “Just wanted to let you know, I’m available for prom.” I approached her and the words seemed to rush out of my mouth like a waterfall. Then, I panicked and walked away without giving her a chance to react. My heart raced for the rest of the school day, wondering if she had even heard me or understood what I said.
Apparently, she heard me loud and clear. Four days later I received a message on Twitter from Paige admiring my bravery.
