Personal Narrative-Spring Break

On May 14, 2016, it was the last day of cheer tryouts at champion cheer. I was aiming for level 3 ,which meant back tucks. Back tucks have always been easy for me but, today was different. I was already having an off day or what i like to call it "a bad tumbling day", when i got up to tumble and noticed in the middle of my round-off backhand-spring that the girl next to me was tumbling crooked. Quickly i decided, to not do the tuck. Due to not reacting quick enough, I harshly landed on my arm which caused agonizing pain. Later not only did my shoulder/humorous bone break but, so did a piece of my heart. Knowing that I was going to be out of cheer for an extensive amount of time completely devastated me.At that moment i realized truly how much …show more content…
Until they informed me i was going to need a cast, but not just any cast. A cast that was heavy and for some reason didn't even cove the actual part that i had broken. Anyways, besides getting special treatment from my parents there was no positive side to having a cast, including that i got it at the worst time, right before summer! Which meant no sleepovers, no roller coasters, no cheer (of course) and no swimming!! I was almost as bummed at my friends who were balling their eyes out after not being able to see Justin Bieber in concert because, it was cancelled. Probably about mid July, after watching my friends swim, stunt, and tan in the pool I was finally able to join them, my cast was off! The only downside was that i still had to wait a couple more months until i was almost fully recovered to be able to tumble again. Which was fine because i was still trying to regain enough confidence to get back in the game. About 3 and a half months later, I was finally cleared to tumble, YAY!. From that point on i never cheated condition or complained about how hard it got because i realized how much cheer meant to me and how much i would miss if it if i ever had to stop

When I arrived at my enormous new high school for cheerleading auditions, I got lost. It was June, and since classes had just ended, crowds of kids filled the hallways, and I got bumped around like I did not exist. Thankfully, a cheerleader saw me and figured that I had come there for tryouts since I wore shorts, cheer shoes and a big bow in my hair. She took me to the gym where at least sixty girls had shown up to compete. The first thing I saw was cheerleaders doing high level tumbling with no fear.…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old.
