Personal Narrative: Show And Tell

Decent Essays
As a child I didn't know what my mom did at work one day I asked if I can bring something from her work to show for "Show and Tell". I was very surprised when the night before she came home with a microscope and some slides. Being so young it was the most amazing thing I have seen and to think my mom was a scientist. My mom later explain what she did and how she was the one that prep the slides so the Doctor can read the slide and can tell if the patient has cancer and where it's gonna spread. She use to take me to her work and just showed me around look at the big machines and all the slides. When you’re young everyone ask "What do you want to be when you grow up?", of course you have a lot of great things to say. When it comes down to it

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

“Congratulations!!” read one post on a friend’s Facebook wall, the day after she landed an office job in her field. “So amazing!” read another. “Are you ready for your big-girl job?” asked a third well-wisher, accompanied by a GIF of Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope. “I can’t believe I finally have a real job” was the text she sent me a few days later, from the comfort of her desk, where she had been hired to do operations work for an organization she had once, a few years prior, interned for.…

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” This is a question everyone is asked by teachers, parents, and even strangers, from the time they are young and just learning to read. Most kids tend to say they want to become an astronaut or a professional athlete. But for me, I was on the complete other end of the spectrum. Instead of shooting for the stars, I aspired for ground level and always said I wanted to become a professional dog walker.…

One thing I have learned in life is that not everyone will be similar to me. Other people will most likely have different values, experiences, and perspectives on life. When I was much younger, I dreaded meeting new people who I shared nothing in common. I feared we would not get along and this would lead to problems. However, my exposure to disparate people in sports, school, and work has helped me broaden my horizons and be better prepared to relate to others in the future.…

Best in Show Experiences are one of the ways we learn about our world. Specifically, concerts are a place where I see the opportunity to share unique encounters. I’ve been to quite a few concerts in my day, nine concerts, two music festivals, and sixty two artists in total. I love live music because every single person can experience a show differently. It’s like a story that’s created in front of your eyes and dies that night.…
