Personal Narrative: Retreat To Camp Tekawitha

Decent Essays
All I wanted to do was enjoy my day on a Freshman retreat to Camp Tekawitha. On a hot day I got back from my retreat around 5:10. Jaclyn and I talked to our coach two days before the retreat and told her that we would be getting back around 5:00 and probably won't be able to make it to practice. We told our coach around 5:00 because our teachers didn't know exactly what time we would be getting back to school. Since practice was over at 5:30, Jaclyn and I thought it wouldn't be necessary to go to practice. Even though we told our coach we couldn't make practice, she was still upset about it. Our coach found out when we got back and she was very mad because we didn't come and practice. Some of the girls on the freshman team were telling our coach we were avoiding going to the gym to say we got back. We thought that it was okay to go home because both of our parents were there and we didn't want them to wait.

It was my first time playing on a high school sport, and even making the JV team. She didn't respect me or Jaclyn the rest of the season because of this, the season is over two months long and this was the first week. She never played Jaclyn, I was the only setter so she had no choice but to play me, but if I didn't play that position I wouldn't have played either. I am still upset about it today even though this happened a year ago. Since we didn't do anything wrong, we should not have been punished. I can see where she's is coming from, but we told her we weren't going to be there. I learned from this that make sure you are clear when you tell someone something because you can be easily misunderstood. Also I learned that if you get back early from something to check in with your coach or boss and let them know you got back

I am so glad I had the priveledge to see the movie, War Room, with my Life Group. I have to admit, since applying Miss Clara's war room, my quality of prayer has greatly improve. I not only know who and what I am praying for, but I actual have strategic pray life that makes sense; that I can follow and easily adjust as God directs me because I can see Him in my plans more clearer. My target prayers go up on my bedroom wall. And I immediately receive scriptures from the Holy Spirit to use in my prayers.…

I consider Camp Kanata a second home, I worked my first full summer as a camp counselor after junior year. That summer was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life; I learned, laughed, and cried everyday, I also created amazing friendships. Yet when asked about what made my summer so spectacular a few months later, I had little to say, my mind was blank. I cannot remember what happened a week ago, let alone what happened months and years ago. The number of special memories and moments I have forgotten about is unquantifiable.…

I arrive at camp, Camp Long Lake, some people call it a great merry place, others, they would prefer to watch paint dry. At least so I’ve heard. Now I’ve been forced to come to this place due to my inadequate decisions and treating people poorly. So I can only speculate that this week will be an atrocious one.…

when I was in sixth grade, I joined a tournament fast pitch team for the summer. I had played softball since i was four years old but this was my second year playing fast pitch. I had played in a recreational league the year before so I had a little bit of knowledge on how to play the game. The coach for the team I played for had very little experience as a coach, but had a lot of experience playing fast pitch so she knew lot about the game. She never let me play after I had went to very practice…

I live my life on a legacy of war survivors. My family's standards toward success have always been a key factor as I was being raised. As a young musician, my grandfather’s optimistic views deteriorated the moment he got drafted for World War II.Appointed as commander in the tanks divison, my grandfather felt his everlasting ego grow as he protected his country. The moment of victory however soon vanished when an oncoming tank shot down my grandfather’s tank, destroying everything in sight. He was able to escape from the commander’s hatch, but as he struggled to get his best-friend out of the tank, the tank exploded.…

Anger Freshman year in High School I joined the Porterville High School frosh-off basketball team. I wasn't the best one on the team, but I did my part. I was always intimidated by all the other girls on the team, this intimidation was controlling me, and it wasn't allowing me to be the person, and player I truly was. I was never loud, rough, nor did I ever play dirty so it came as a big surprise when I got into a fight with another player. It was against our rivals the Moanche High School girls basketball team, so the game was already intense, I remember the situation as if it was yesterday, I was playing defense grading this girl and all through out the night she was playing dirty, elbowing me every chance she got.…

Soccer has always been my love, my passion, and my outlet. If I have a rough day, all I have to do is lace up my cleats and step onto the field and just like that, all my worries drift away. I would always play for myself and no one else, it was my game and I thought that no one could take that away from me. Every time I played soccer I felt free, until the day that everything changed.…

Personal Narrative I am in such disbelief of what has just happened, my mind is blank and I am frozen. Do you ever have moments that change the way you think about yourself? Well, I had one of those moments. It was in the summer of 2017, and it was my last softball game of the season. I woke up that morning ready to beat the Presque Isle Panthers, not knowing what was about to happen.…

What courage to love means to me is standing out from others, even knowing that i'm afraid to do so. Courage can be portrayed in many forms, for instance, when i was in speech class I was very nervous and afraid because I knew that it was a matter of time that my chance for me to present my speech, and even though I knew everyone in the class it was still nerve racking. After I faced my fears I was able to gain the courage to present my speech, my love for getting good grades also gave me the extra motivation as well. In High School I was to participate in softball, which was my favorite sport, but my cousin Monique said “oh no” Kentara you are playing basketball with much hesitation. I had never bounced a basketball in my life I had the courage…

Thanks the Texas Exes alumni, I was able to go to Camp Texas for free this year. At first I thought that it was like any normal 3- day camping trip, which made me extremely excited since I enjoy camping very much. Once I got there, I realized that it was a different type of camp. I was nervous and scared because I’m not very good at socializing. The reason I’m writing this is because I learned so much about being open minded, accepting, and kind to other people and new experiences.…
