It was one of many buildings the citizens of iT chicago pointed to with pride. Many of the fancy details (such as those above the clock) were really carved out of wood. ‘In addition, the mansard Roof was made of tar and wood.’’ “137 De koven street-where it all it began.…
It was a glorious day for Browns fans as they witnessed something that hasn’t occurred since 2007, a victory in Baltimore. It was a rare sighting, but Cleveland pulled off the stunning upset in an overtime thriller. At first, it didn’t look to good for the Browns. After three and outs from both teams, the Ravens struck first.…
The city of Chicago was still. It was Game 7 of the World Series, and the Cleveland Indians were hosting the Chicago Cubs. 108 years of pain and sadness could be wiped away. Everyone was somewhere, ready to watch one of the biggest games of baseball to ever be played. I was at a watch party with a bunch of diehard Cub fans.…
I started playing baseball when I was 7 years old and at that time I was actually playing T-Ball. For awhile I played baseball for a place called Twin City. While I was at Twin City I had mostly played the second base position. Twin City was an alright organization because they didn't have players with the best attitudes. Those players with not so good attitudes affected our teams ability to win.…

“We’re going to Las Vegas!” I heard my mom bellow from upstairs. “ What” I heard myself say, trying not to believe my ears. “We are going to Las Vegas” she repeated, “ Pack up, we’re leaving tomorrow morning!” I didn’t want to go to Las Vegas as it took 7 hours to get there, and back( maybe even 10).…
The first locations were on South Federal but moved to East State Street in 1893. That building was later burned down. It moved again to a large home owned originally by D.M Tiffany. Coming to Houston from a country where opportunities are very limited and economy is a challenge for the youthful, has made the last two years a little rough and hopeful at the same time for me and my family. Therefore, school is the most important in my life, after my family; I dedicate my time and my efforts to not become just the first professional in my family, but also to be an exemplary person in society thanks to the values that my parents have instilled in me. Before coming to Houston, I studied three years of Industrial Design in Colombia; although I loved my career, I think that I was too young (15 years old) to appreciate what school was providing me and to be sure what I wanted to do in life. Once I got here I understood that what…
Oklahoma trip This last week was Labor Day weekend my family took a trip to Oklahoma. We were going to Shattuck Oklahoma which is 4 and a half hour a way to see my aunt and uncle and cousins. On the way there it was so boring and long that I just texted some friends and slept. Then my mom told us to wake up because we were almost there.…
I grew up in a neighborhood where a tourist can capture awe-inspiring pictures through their phone's or camera's. Pictures that will bring out how rich this community is. Rich in culture, food, music, and art. Pilsen, The Heart of Chicago, is beautiful in and out. From the art located in almost every corner, to the kindest hearts that live in the people who live in Pilsen.…
Ah, Chicago, the Windy City, a famed metropolis known for its wholesome American values, deep-dish pizza, and its friendly, carefree, community. Nothing quite exemplifies the Founding Fathers’ vision of America like the Second City. Chicago is the only place where one can truly appreciate the equality and justice generations of Americans have fought to achieve. My journey began as many Chicagoans days do, to the hymn of police sirens and traffic.…
Pittsburgh is not my hometown of 2,587 people. Pitt is not my high school of 1,243 students. The Pitt Class of 2021 will certainly not be my high school graduating class of 323 students. Everything about Pitt is new for me, entirely out of my comfort zone, and that is how I know that Pitt is the right choice for me.…
Throughout my tour of the greater Chicago area, I saw countless of interesting things, from the people walking the streets to up to all the admirable buildings. While not knowing my way around the city I got lost multiple times which was very exasperating and time consuming, but my overall experience of walking the loop was somewhat tolerable. The two buildings that stood out me the most were the Willis Tower and the Kluczynski Federal Building. These two building stood out to me because of the overall structure of it, I thought both buildings were constructed beautifully. The Willis Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the world and also the tallest building in America.…
