This summer, my dad, older sister, and I flew to South Carolina for debate nationals. Since we had a few days before the tournament, we decided to do a little sightseeing. On Sunday, we visited two churches in Atlanta, Georgia. We first went to the Ebenezer Baptist Church, which is a church housed inside the “real” church that Martin Luther King Jr. had served in. The service was very lively, consisting of clapping, singing, and dancing. Two preachers gave sermons, often followed by a chorus of “Amen’s.” After the sermon, there was a baby dedication; the pastor would hold the baby up and pray for her.
