On Saturday September 5, 2017 at 11:00am, my family and I went to south Sioux City, Nebraska. My dad passed away so I had to go to his funeral. My brother, my grandma and I were crying because we miss my dad. We were all crying because my dad is very special to us. We arrived to the funeral home and then we went inside and when we got inside I ran up to the pictures of him and looked at his ashes, I started crying, and I cried for 2 days. I still cry, I am sure I am never going to get over it. I wish he never passed away. I miss my dad a lot. When we left the funeral, I was crying and did not stop for 2 days and I still cry today. I do not know what to do without my dad. I miss him so much I will never forget him. I mean he was not there

With the windows down, the crisp, cool summer air permeated throughout my body, acquiring every hair to stand at attention. Buffalo surrounded and granged lazily through the corn fields that shot high to the sky, as if every row was assembled soldiers getting ready to march. South Dakota is known for open fields with a consumed, laid back lifestyle with not much ever going on. Going into the trip knowing this, I was not in the least bit excited. It was when I absorbed the laid back atmosphere and appreciated every single bit of their way of life.…

As teenagers growing up in Powder Springs, Georgia during the 1980’s, it was somewhat challenging at times to find safe and entertaining ways to occupy our time. Even though we did not have free reign to do as we chose, I would not categorize my parents as extremely strict. Relying on our parents, as if they were our personal taxi service, my sister and I struggled to find activities relatively close to home. After discovering we really enjoyed skating, we spent countless Friday and Saturday nights at the Sparkles Skating Rink in Paulding County. The indoor facility was a safe environment for teenagers, which provided my parents with a certain level of comfort to allow us to gather with friends.…

Wyoming, Illinois is a representation of a small farming community. It sits among acres of old, history filled corn, wheat and bean fields about thirty minutes from the “big” city. My first childhood home sat on a corner. The old home used to belong to my great grandparents, but was currently occupied by my mom, sister and two cats. I looked over to my mom, “Can I go to the grocery store?”…

I start my trip from the location of frenzied outfitting activity throughout the 1840s and early 1850s, Independence (Missouri) was the jumping-off point for the Santa Fe and Oregon trails. The town includes several historic buildings, monuments and Independence Spring. As the place of convergence of early routes from the Mississippi Valley, this square was the last significant point of supply until the mid-1840s, when Westport also became an outfitting town. When I visited Independence in 1846, I found, "a great Babel of African slaves, indolent dark-skinned Spaniards, profane and dust-laden bullwhackers going to and from Santa Fe with their immense wagons, and emigrant families bound for the Pacific, all cheerful and intent on their embarkation…

If you ever happen to catch me in a cut off you might see that on my left shoulder there is tattoo of mountains, pine trees, and five birds leading up to my collar bone. You might ask the meaning, or you might just tell me how much you like it and compliment the artist and ask me where I got it done or ask if I have any others. You might never see a goal as a reason to get a tattoo but Mountains are my goal. My family and I visited the Rocky Mountain National Park the summer after my Junior year in highschool. I had never seen a mountain before besides in pictures.…
