Personal Narrative: My Trip To Mexico

Improved Essays
I was visiting my family in Mexico. Almost every day I would visit my aunt's house to hang out with my cousins and we would explore the streets next to the houses or play video games indoors. The weather would be nice most days since it was almost summer. There would be sunny days with very vibrant green trees all around. I think I was eight years old at the time.

That day was also a sunny one with birds chirping in the distance but some clouds would clump together in patches. My cousins and I decided to go out and look for interesting animals near the river. Our goal was to capture some nice looking beetles to show the neighborhood kids. So we set off with all the materials we thought we needed, a flashlight, some water, food, a net, a bug

As we got towards the river we decided to split up into two teams to cover more area, I grouped up with Caramelo. The river was not too wide only about the size of a smart car. There was movement in the grass but it wasn't caused by the wind. I concluded it was a snake since they were very common around these parts. My mind went blank, I froze completely still. Beads of sweat dripped down from my …show more content…
They also could not find any animals suitable to bring back home either. Then we heard loud thunder in the distance as it started to rain. We were too far away to head back home in time to avoid getting wet so we stayed under a rock. The rock made it seem like we were staying in a cave because it had an area big enough for all of us. But the rain did indeed start pouring. The rock had some moss growing on the inside and it wasn't too dark because it was open enough to let in light but closed enough to keep us dry. Since we were probably going to be there for a while we ate our snacks and shared stories.

Luis spotted a blackish green irredentist looking beetle inside a crevice on the rock. But it was too small for our fingers to fit in it. Luz Maria's hands were small enough but she didn't want to touch it. I remembered my mother told me insects always headed towards light so we put the net over the crevice and turned on our flashlight. Soon enough the beetle crawled out and flew into the net trying to get away. We put the beetle in the bug cage and gave it

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. We weave our way through the woods trying to avoid puddles of unfrozen water, and logs that are in the way of the trails we have made. Finally, I spot the…
