Improved Essays
When I was five years old, my family drove to our rural Texas vacation house for a family retreat. Including the time spent traveling, the trip lasted approximately two weeks. While staying in Texas, my family and I participated in various fun-filled adventures and activities throughout the countryside. Later on, when my cousins joined us, the vacation house was filled to the brim with young, energetic kids and tired, irritated parents. After scrambling for towels and the necessary proof of insurance, my Mom, Dad, and I rushed to the nearest hospital on a Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Texas. At first, my parents truly believed my life was in danger because of the amount of blood pouring out of my head. The nurse glued the cut together and sent me on my way. Overall, my family vacation to Texas was one I will never forget. The trip encompassed emotions that were fun and exhilarating, but it also included feelings that scared me immensely. My Fredericksburg experience taught me to follow rules, listen to my parents, and stay composed, even when I am scared. Since the incident with the wagon wheel, I have encountered several events that could have resulted in something detrimental if I had not kept my cool. Unfortunate events will happen; however, the severity can be lessened and the outcome can be improved if one follows

I sat on a rock watching a group of elementary school kids explore the natural world. They looked at fish, hopped on rocks and followed bugs to their hearts’ content. We were about a mile from our cabin, at the end of Christopher Creek before it went under the road. As a junior counselor, I probably went way out of my jurisdiction in taking my four campers on such a long trip down the creek, but their enjoyment was worth the potential trouble. I couldn’t believe it; none of them had ever taken a trip down a creek.…
