He said something strange before we left that I never understood. He said “Time to go meet the alligators.” But we all sort of ignored him. While driving to my uncle’s house, we had to pass through an area that was called Alligator Alley also known as the Everglades. It was a huge swampy area that went on for miles. While driving, my dad shouted “Look! There’s an alligator!” When we looked out the window there was a HUGE alligator on the side of the road! There were no fences to block the from going onto the street. It was crazy because they just cross the street like nothing on a daily. Even though the scenery of the Everglades isn’t the prettiest thing to look at. The area smells funky yet it has its beauty in its own way. There were a numerous number of trees that were the perfect shade of green. The water was a dark green and had a thick layer of moss on top. There were no lights on the road except for the headlights of the car. It was a little scary because we didn’t know if there was an alligator on the road. My dad told us to keep an eye out for little circle glares by the water because they were eyes coming from the alligators. On the way, back to the hotel we made up a game to see who saw the most alligators at night. I lost because I was looking out the window. For me that was the best part of the whole ride because once you look up you see thousands and thousands of stars; and in Chicago you barely see any. I’ve never seen that many stars in the sky before. so, the whole way back to the hotel I kept looking out the window until I fell asleep; in a way, I fell asleep underneath the
