Personal Narrative-My Pursuit Of Honor

I’m in the middle of a huge green forest in Illinois with all my tactical gear on me. I have my digital green combat uniform perfect to blend in with the bushy green trees on my back, my old tactical vest carrying six rifle magazines and two extra for my beaten but trusty Beretta m92fs which has never failed me in field before. But the most important thing that I’m carrying with me is my AK74m, a spectacular black russian rifle that has been with me since the beginning of my journey. My squad, the rabbits conformed of only five men, are all ready for some action. We are the fastest of all, and we are always in charge of getting sneaking into the enemy bases, gather intel and report everything we find back to HQ. I looked down to my swiss army watch, it’s 5:00AM, the sun it's about to rise, it’s on, we have to start moving forward to achieve our mission. …show more content…

They are under attack, projectiles are flying everywhere, I run to the nearest tree in order to assist them. I load my AK, rack it, and start to lay fire on the enemy, eliminating two of them with my first five shots. The United States Army Air Defense Artillery had small but important roles in the Korean War. Although most the units were filling non-Air Defense roles, there are a few that set themselves above and beyond their sister units due to their actions. These units fulfilling roles other than air defense were using the M19 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage, which was a self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon. This weapon was based upon the M5 light tank chassis, but modified to fulfill the air defense role. It was then utilized as indirect and direct fire against enemy troops, vehicles and fortifications.…

As I stared across the bullet-torn battlefield I wondered how I ended up here; hiding behind a crumbling wall, clutching my gun as though it were a lifeline. How the young kid I'd once been now bore a dirty, camouflage patterned uniform. There I was, contemplating my life in the middle of a battle. I shouldn't have been surprised when a hand suddenly shot out in front of my face and smacked me upside the head. It was so unexpected that I nearly stumbled out from behind the rubble and right into the bullet whizzing by.…

I quickly returned fire, but the engagement did not last long. The patrol continued moving to the next compound that was located to the east about 400 m. This compound was a lot larger; it consisted of several medium to large walled buildings. We began clearing the compound only to find that there were only a few villagers. The rain started to come down extremely heavy, so we strong pointed inside of a building for roughly 30 minutes. I think I heard that the brigade Battle Space Owner (BSO) that occupied the AO had taken something like 30 Killed in Action (KIA) in their year-long tour, which was coming to a close. The enemy in this AO were not very used to being hunted. As a consequence, when they walked around, they did not try to conceal weapons, to include Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and PKM machine guns. Hiding weapons such as RPGs and PKMs was a common enemy practice in other areas of the country, where the Coalition could make their presence felt on a greater scale. The fact that the enemy did not try to hide their weapons also made it very easy to differentiate between an enemy fighter, armed with an RPG or PKM,…
