Personal Narrative: My Personal Core Values

One’s personal core values are there to guide behavior and choice. Get them right and you'll be swift and focused in your decision-making process while having a clear direction for your life goals. Leave them ambiguous, and you'll constantly wonder why things aren’t going the way you planned. Although your personal core values may not exactly match anyone else's, they still help you determine your surrounding culture. Most people consciously or unconsciously use personal core values to select friendships, relationships, and business partnerships. My core values include truth, diligence, consistency, and faith. Some people are skilled liars, I am not. I function best when people are direct and honest, and I make it clear that truth is necessary in my world, no matter how painful. My professional goal beyond college is to attend a graduate school for physical therapy. I knew I wanted to be a physical therapist while I was coming into the AU athletic training program. The biggest reason for my interest in physical therapy is because they do not require the amount of responding to emergency knowledge. I do not mind the blood, guts, and the gore, but at the end of the day I do not want to have the responsibility of someone’s life, especially if I become close with them due to a team setting. I love athletic training and all the aspects that it incases, but when I am older I know I do not want to deal with high school or college freshman. Additionally, one of my personal goals is to start a family while also staying close with my entire family, but athletic training make it difficult to achieve that. Therefore, I believe physical therapy will give me more of a stable career that will allow me to meet both my personal and professional
